The 4th International Chemistry Forum opened Wednesday in Rabat under the theme “Chemistry at the Heart of Industrial Integration,” bringing together stakeholders to discuss the sector’s role in building an integrated and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event is organized by the Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry (FCP), in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Speaking in a pre-recorded video address, Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour said the forum has become a strategic platform for shaping the future of industry, stressing that chemistry is “the industry of industries” due to its central role in connecting industrial value chains.
He noted that the chemical industry occupies a key position within Morocco’s industrial fabric, spanning several strategic sectors including phytosanitary products, paints, cosmetics and glass manufacturing.
Mezzour also highlighted the sector’s future potential, saying tomorrow’s chemistry industry will be driven by the circular economy, low-carbon processes, innovative energy solutions and sovereign active ingredients.
For his part, FCP President Abed Chagar noted that the chemical industry accounts for nearly 30% of national industrial production, has been the leading industrial investor for the past two decades, and generates more than MAD 190 billion.
The 4th edition of the Forum focuses, over two days, on several thematic panels on the sector’s challenges and perspectives.
Discussions bring together experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to address drivers of competitiveness, challenges related to industrial sovereignty, and the transformations needed to foster the emergence of an integrated, innovative, and high-performing chemical ecosystem.
