The proceedings of the “Africa Forward” summit, held under the theme “Africa Forward: Partnerships between Africa and France for Innovation and Growth,” concluded on Tuesday evening in Nairobi.

The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI at this summit.

During this summit, Akhannouch took part in a Panel on Financial Architecture in the presence of Kenyan President William Ruto and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, African heads of state and government, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as well as presidents of international institutions.

On this occasion, the Head of Government emphasized that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has made industry one of the central pillars of its economic transformation, noting that this dynamic has resulted in a significant increase in industrial exports, a performance driven by structured sectors, particularly automotive and aeronautics.

Furthermore, Akhannouch co-chaired a Panel on Health Sovereignty with the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking at this panel, Akhannouch stated that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has made the strategic choice to place health sovereignty at the heart of its development trajectory.

The Moroccan delegation to this major Franco-African gathering was composed of the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, and the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane, the Ambassador Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal, as well as the Ambassador of the Kingdom to the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of South Sudan, Abderrazzak Laassel.

It also included a substantial delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), led by its president, Chakib Alj, and composed of several actors from the Moroccan private sector.

Co-organized by Kenya and France, this summit brought together Kenyan President William Ruto and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, as well as several African heads of state and government, around the prospects of strengthening partnerships between France and African countries.

The first summit of its kind to be hosted and co-chaired with an English-speaking country, “Africa Forward” aims to promote Africa-France partnerships that are both “robust and balanced,” founded on genuine economic complementarities and geared toward serving the people.

The summit highlighted the diversity of actors participating in the discussions, notably states, businesses, youth, artists, civil societies, and diasporas, with the objective of accelerating cross-investments and building concrete solutions to shared challenges.

Akhannouch had also taken part in the “Africa Forward: Inspire & Connect” Business Forum, organized the day before, which was marked by a distinguished participation of the Moroccan delegation in the various workshops, panels, and meetings bringing together leaders of major African and French companies with the goal of fostering economic partnerships and investment opportunities.
