Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and France’s Ambassador and Interministerial Delegate for the Mediterranean, Nadia Hai, stressed on Wednesday in Rabat the importance of strengthening Mediterranean cooperation in the field of transport.

In a statement to the press following talks held on the sidelines of the 11th Ministerial Conference of the Western Mediterranean Transport Ministers Group (GTMO 5+5), Hai said that this event constitutes a strategic platform for strengthening dialogue and joint action in the face of the challenges linked to the ecological and energy transitions.

In this regard, she highlighted Morocco’s central role in bringing the Mediterranean’s coastal countries closer together.

The French official also welcomed the Kingdom’s presidency of the GTMO 5+5 for the 2026-2028 period, saying she was convinced of Morocco’s ability to carry forward the momentum generated under the Maltese presidency, notably in terms of rail, maritime and air links, as well as in promoting more sustainable transport.

For his part, Kayouh highlighted the excellence of Moroccan-French relations in the transport and logistics sectors, affirming the two countries’ willingness to further develop their cooperation and exchange of expertise in the service of sustainable and integrated mobility on a Mediterranean scale.
