Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, commended on Monday Morocco’s commitment to advancing joint African action.
During talks held at the headquarters of the pan-African organization in Addis Ababa with Morocco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Mohamed Arrouchi, Ali Youssouf praised “Morocco’s constructive commitment and valuable contributions to the work of the African Union.”
The discussions focused on means to further bolster joint African action.
On the occasion, Arrouchi reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting collective African action, while emphasizing the need for a practical, action-oriented approach that serves African citizens’ vital interests in line with the continent’s agenda.
The Moroccan diplomat also spoke of adopting the peace, security and development nexus as a guiding framework for advancing joint African action.
The two sides also reviewed preparations for the upcoming session of the AU Executive Council, scheduled for late July in Addis Ababa, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring a successful, results-oriented meeting that supports the implementation of the Union’s priorities.
