The Pardon that HM King Mohammed VI has granted, on the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, to the individuals convicted, prosecuted or wanted in cases linked to cannabis cultivation, is a testament to the Sovereign’s High Solicitude and marks a decisive turning point for the industry’s development in Morocco, said Kamal Aberkani, expert in agronomic sciences.
Aberkani told MAP that this Royal Initiative paves the way for a new era for the legal cultivation of cannabis for industrial, pharmaceutical and medicinal purposes, positioning the Kingdom among the pioneer countries in this field on the world stage.
The expert, one of the initiators of the first scientific congress on cannabis to be held in Nador in 2021, emphasized the crucial role of the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities (ANRAC) in overseeing and regulating the entire production chain.
In this context, he pointed out that growers benefiting from the Royal Pardon will henceforth be subject to strict but achievable specifications.
Aberkani added that this Royal Pardon represents Morocco’s commitment to a new economic and agricultural era, combining tradition and innovation, with the potential to position the country as a world leader in the legal cannabis industry, while guaranteeing the socio-economic development of the regions concerned.
