Moroccan music producer RedOne is going to release a new official anthem for the national team tomorrow, January 27, during the African Cup of Nations draw in Rabat.
In a press release, RedOne, born Nadir Khayat, revealed that the track will be the official anthem for Morocco at AFCON 2025, saying: “It’s to encourage and support them in every competition they take part in.”
The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Faouzi Lekjaa, backs this project.
This is the first time Morocco has had a song like this. “It’s an unprecedented achievement,” RedOne said. “This project is special for me, bringing sports and culture together for my homeland.”
“Maghribi Maghribi” is part of a larger musical project, which features only Moroccan songs. “This album is more than music,“ he explained. “It’s a statement of national pride and unity – a tribute to the strength of our Moroccan people.”
The lyrics and instruments used in the album will celebrate the diversity and richness of Moroccan culture, and aim to inspire love for the national team.
RedOne is expected to lead the music performance during the AFCON draw, set to take place tomorrow in Rabat at Mohammed V Theater at 7 p.m. Moroccan time. Other artists include Morocco’s Hatim Ammour, and Congolese artist GIMS.
RedOne has earned his fame for blending music with sporting events, after working on music-related projects for both World Cups in Russia and Qatar.
In 2018, RedOne co-produced “Live It Up” – the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup in Russia. The song featured Will Smith, Nicky Jam, and Era Istrefi.
Also in 2022, RedOne worked on two official soundtracks for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The first was “Light The Sky” with Nora Fatehi, Balqees, Rahma Riad, and Manal. The second was “Arhbo” which featured Ozuna and GIMS.
