Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch took part Monday in Nairobi in the closing ceremony of the “Africa Forward: Inspire & Connect” business forum, co-chaired by Kenyan President William Ruto and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

The “Africa Forward: Inspire & Connect” business forum featured a distinguished Moroccan delegation that participated in various workshops, panels, and meetings bringing together leaders of major African and French companies with the aim of fostering economic partnerships and investment opportunities.

Joining Akhannouch at the Forum’s closing ceremony were Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development; Amine Tehraoui, Minister of Health and Social Protection; Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation; Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador and Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), as well as Abderrazzak Laassel, the Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of South Sudan.

Also in attendance at the closing ceremony of the Forum—which aims to strengthen cross-border investment and foster economic partnerships between Africa and France—was a large delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), led by its president, Chakib Alj, and comprising several representatives from Morocco’s private sector.

Titled “Africa Forward: Inspire & Connect,” the event, organized as part of the Africa Forward Summit, brought together more than 1,500 economic decision-makers, investors, and public officials representing Africa, France, and other countries to discuss key issues related to the continent’s growth, investment, and economic transformation.

The forum featured workshops, B2B meetings, and discussions bringing together executives from major African and French companies, leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises, young entrepreneurs, and representatives from the public sector.

Discussions focused on several sectors critical to the continent’s development, including energy, agribusiness, digital technology, healthcare, and sustainable cities—areas considered priorities for supporting Africa’s economic transformation, stimulating innovation, and promoting sustainable and inclusive development.

Throughout the Forum, the Moroccan delegation worked alongside various stakeholders from French and African economic ecosystems to promote collective solutions to various challenges facing the continent.

The “Africa Forward” Summit will focus in particular on promoting balanced and concrete partnerships, with a special emphasis on cross-border investments, economic development, training, as well as joint responses to global challenges related in particular to climate, food sovereignty, and the energy transition.

Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch arrived in Nairobi on Sunday evening to represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the “Africa Forward” Summit as well as at the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Congo Basin Climate Commission (CCBC) and the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin, scheduled for Tuesday in the Kenyan capital.
