Morocco’s Office of National Tourism (ONMT) received earlier this week the award for the “Most Welcoming Destination” at the 2024 Arab Travel Awards, which took place in London at the same time as the highly regarded World Travel Market (WTM).
The award reflects Morocco’s commitment to excellent hospitality and confirmation that the North African kingdom is among the best destinations for UK tourists. This recognition also puts Morocco in the limelight in the global travel arena, further cementing its position as a friendly, dynamic, and distinctive destination worldwide.
For the ONMT, the 2024 edition of WTM was an opportunity to display the various tourism products available in Morocco. During the award ceremony, the office highlighted Morocco through an expansive 800-square-meter pavilion that spoke volumes about the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The pavilion featured VIP networking facilities and dedicated areas to the regions of Marrakech-Safi and Agadir-Souss Massa. The activities aimed to show the great variety of the tourist experience in Morocco, showcasing the rich history, the scenic beauty, the enchanting culinary delights in store in the country depending on which region or city one chooses to visit.
Besides aiming to catch the true cultural spirit of Morocco, the pavilion was meant to portray those aspects of Moroccan identity which best define it, notably the variety in its food, handicrafts, and rich artistic heritage.
In addition, ONMT was present with a stand that included 54 co-exhibitors from the regional tourism boards, travel agencies, and other businesses. While Morocco is recognized as an attractive tourist destination, the ONMT’s goal is to further the country’s visibility and competitiveness in the international tourist market.
With more than four decades of existence, WTM London is one of the most important annual encounters in the travel industry. Every year, thousands of professionals from different parts of the globe flock to this global event to boost their standing in the increasingly competitive hospitality industry.
Over 40,000 representatives from 184 countries participated in the event last year, making it one of the largest platforms for networking and development project pitching in the tourism sector.
