The Deputy Speaker of the House of Councilors, Lahcen Haddad, held talks on Monday in Rabat with a parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Ghana, led by the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo.

During this meeting, the two parties underscored the quality of the bilateral relations, which are experiencing significant growth in several areas thanks to the interest and constant support of the leaders of both countries, particularly following the historic Visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Ghana in February 2017. This visit marked a qualitative turning point in bilateral relations and signifies the common political will and firm commitment to their consolidation at various levels, according to a statement from the Upper House.

The same source adds that this meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the Initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of the comprehensive development of the African Continent, particularly the Royal Atlantic Initiative aimed at facilitating the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.

In this context, Haddad expressed his satisfaction with the important achievements made by the two countries in all fields, notably through the strengthening of trade and investment in the sectors of agriculture, energy, and mines. He also mentioned the provision of Moroccan expertise in areas such as phosphates, through the OCP Group, agriculture, housing, and infrastructure.

For his part, Dumelo expressed Ghana’s firm desire to further consolidate and develop bilateral relations with Morocco, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the continuity of the current cooperation dynamic, which is undergoing qualitative development in various domains.

He also stressed the need to promote solidarity and joint action among African countries to achieve sustainable development on a continent rich in promising natural and human resources.
