Rabat’s Mohammed V University (UM5) has ranked first among Moroccan and Maghreb universities in the January edition of the Webometrics 2025 ranking, which highlights the ability of universities to produce, disseminate, and share knowledge on a global scale.
Rabat’s UM5 once again stands out by reaffirming its position as a leader in research, the university said in a press release.
The same source added that UM5 is among the top 5% of universities worldwide and holds the first position at both nationally and in the Maghreb region.
This remarkable achievement comes in a highly competitive environment, where 31,364 universities and institutions were evaluated this year. Mohammed V University of Rabat has distinguished itself through key indicators such as the visibility and popularity of its website, the quality and impact of its researchers on Google Scholar, and the number of publications in the top 10% of indexed journals in the Scopus database (2019-2023), according to the same source.
