In a changing world, the Kingdom of Morocco stands “as a pillar of stability,” guided by the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, said, on Tuesday, the US Ambassador to Morocco, Richard Duke Buchan III.
“Morocco is our strongest, and most dependable ally in the region,” he emphasized during a reception organized on the historic site of Chellah to celebrate the US national day, attended by government members and other high-ranking officials from different spheres.
Morocco is “America’s oldest friend,” the US ambassador said, recalling that the Kingdom was the first country to recognize the United States of America’s independence, a “bold act” that demonstrated Morocco’s vision and leadership, setting the foundation for a partnership that has endured for nearly two and a half centuries.
“Today, our partnership is stronger than ever,” he said.
“The United States, and especially President Donald Trump, stand firmly with Morocco,” the US diplomat added, underlining President Trump’s unwavering support for Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.
In this respect, he described the economic opportunity in the Moroccan Sahara as “unlimited,” adding that American companies are “here to help make that opportunity a reality through investment, innovation, and partnership,” in different fields.
The American companies create jobs, provided trusted technology and open doors to global markets, he explained.
“Tonight, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday together, we also celebrate a partnership rooted in history, strengthened by trust, and focused firmly on the next 250 years,” the Ambassador added.
In this regard, he cited the recent inauguration of the newest headquarters of the US Consulate in Casablanca, and the joint organization of the “African Lion” large-scale annual military exercise, which illustrate the United States’ commitment to strengthening its enduring relations with Morocco.
“In Tangier, the United States maintains the American Legation, our oldest diplomatic property in the world, and a symbol of a friendship older than our Constitution,” he welcomed.
He concluded that Morocco and the US remain “friends, allies, and partners.”
