The 2nd International Forum of Prosecutors Combating Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling kicked off on Tuesday in Marrakech, attended by several international stakeholders.

Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) with financial support from the European Union, the Forum brings together prosecutors from over 60 countries to strengthen international cooperation against organized criminal networks involved in human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

This event will help participants share operational experiences, identify common challenges, and develop stronger mechanisms for regional and international coordination, while equipping prosecutors with practical tools and strategies to respond more effectively to increasingly complex transnational cases and strengthening global efforts to dismantle criminal networks that exploit vulnerable people for profit.

Over three days, participants will examine emerging trends and evolving criminal methods, including the growing use of digital platforms, encrypted communications, and online recruitment by trafficking and smuggling networks.

Discussions will also focus on strengthening financial investigations to trace and seize criminal proceeds, improving cross-border evidence sharing, and developing joint investigations and prosecutions.
