The Morocco-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group was officially established on Thursday at the Argentine Congress, attended by Moroccan Ambassador Fares Yassir, marking a new milestone in strengthening relations between the two countries.
This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries and to promote regular parliamentary dialogue in support of closer cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, and academic spheres.
Speaking at the event, chair of the Morocco-Argentina Friendship Group Congresswoman Lorena Macyszyn noted that relations between Morocco and Argentina rest on a solid foundation, built over the years through a dialogue based on trust and mutual respect.
Macyszyn also stressed the need to capitalize on existing significant economic opportunities to boost trade, which already stands at nearly $1.1 billion, while calling for deeper cooperation in strategic sectors such as food security, renewable energy, and other high-potential areas.
Chaired by Macyszyn (La Libertad Avanza Party), the Morocco-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group is composed of nine members of Congress representing the main political forces (both the majority and the opposition) in the Argentine Congress.
They are Pablo Farias (Provincias Unidas Party), Maria Luisa Gonzalez Estevarena (La Libertad Avanza Party and member of Foreign Affairs commission), Alvaro Gonzalez (La Propuesta Republicana Party), and Patricia Noemi Holzman (La Libertad Avanza Party and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee).
It also includes María Cecilia Ibáñez (La Libertad Avanza Party and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee), Cecilia Moreau (Union por La Patria Party and former president of the Chamber of Deputies), Jorge Alejandro Mukdise (Union por La Patria Party), and Estela Mary Neder (Union por La Patria Party).
Other members of the friendship group expressed their willingness to make this parliamentary framework a vehicle for ongoing dialogue, capable of supporting the growing momentum in relations between Rabat and Buenos Aires and encouraging new cooperation initiatives for the benefit of both countries.
