The “Africa Forward” summit proceedings began on Tuesday in Nairobi, with Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch taking part as a representative of HM King Mohammed VI.
The Moroccan delegation to this major Franco-African gathering, themed “Africa–France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth”, includes the Ministers of energy, health and investment, as well as other senior officials from the business and diplomacy realms.
Hosted jointly by Kenya and France, the summit brings together Heads of State, business leaders, and innovators to forge a new partnership built on equal ground. Kenyan President William Ruto and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron were also attending to discuss prospects for strengthening partnerships between France and African countries.
The first summit of its kind to be hosted and co-chaired with an English-speaking country, “Africa Forward” aims to promote Africa-France partnerships that are both “robust and balanced,” based on real economic complementarities and geared towards serving populations.
The summit aims to demonstrate the African continent’s innovation capacity and affirm a shared commitment to developing common, mutually beneficial solutions based on effective multilateralism and a spirit of transformative partnership.
The Forum will also be dedicated to issues of development financing and global challenges, notably issues of sovereignty and competitiveness, as well as peace and security challenges in support of African mediations and actions by the African Union.
The “Africa Forward: Inspire & Connect” Business Forum, organized the day before, was marked by a distinguished participation from the Moroccan delegation, which took part in various workshops, panels, and meetings bringing together leaders of major African and French companies with the aim of fostering economic partnerships and investment opportunities.
Certain conclusions from the summit are expected to contribute to the preparation of the G7 Summit, which France will host in Evian from June 15 to 17.
